While there is still an ongoing legal battle between singer/ songwriter Kesha and Dr. Luke (Lukasz Gottwald), Kesha’s mother, Pebe Sebert, has dropped her countersuit against Dr. Luke. Sebert’s countersuit claimed that the music producer lied about how involved she would be in her daughter’s career and caused her personal distress. Sebert’s attorney, Alex Little, released this statement.
She has decided to move on and find peace and forgiveness in her heart rather than dwelling in the cancerous past of an ongoing lawsuit with no end in sight.
Serbert had been sued by Dr. Luke for defamation, but that case was later dismissed this past February.
“Pebe Sebert’s voluntary withdrawal of all her claims against Dr. Luke is her acknowledgement that her claims are meritless,” Dr. Luke’s attorney, Christine Lepera, said in a statement (via The Hollywood Reporter). “Dr. Luke’s defamation and other claims continue against Pebe and Kesha Sebert.”
The legal disputes between Kesha and Dr. Luke are still under way and they will continue to face off in court after this past February a judge denied Kesha’s request to be let out of her contract with Sony.
Kesha sued Dr. Luke on Oct. 14, 2014, accusing him of abusing her over the course of 10 years. “Dr. Luke abused Ms. Sebert in order to destroy her self-confidence, self-image, and self-worth so that he could maintain complete control over her life and career,” the lawsuit read. Dr. Luke is specifically accused of drugging and raping Kesha. The lawsuit came after Kesha had checked into rehab back in January of 2014. According to her lawsuit, doctors concluded that Dr. Luke had “physically and psychologically damaged” her to the point that continuing to work under her contract with him would be “life threatening.”
