We were all saddened to hear about the passing of Charlie Murphy as he lost his battle with Leukemia earlier today. A great comedian whom a lot of people are taking time to remember today.
I remember being introduced to Charlie Murphy on The Chappelle Show as he told some of the most hilarious stories about going to parties with his younger brother Eddie Murphy.
Most recently, I am happy that I was able to see him do stand up at the Black and Brown Get Down right here in Peoria. George Lopez gathered the greats, D.L. Hughley, Ced The Entertainer, Mike Epps, Eddie Griffin along with Charlie Murphy, to help raise money for the Richard Pryor statue that now stands in Downtown Peoria.
I can’t remember a time I have ever laughed harder. I wish I could have been a fly on the wall to here the other great stories as they were all back stage. Thankfully, I have found this video with backstage footage of Charlie Murphy doing what he does best, telling great stories.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Murphy family.
