The threat of severe weather is nothing new to central Illinois. We are all too familiar with it. This time, two years ago, no one thought there would be a tornado in November in central Illinois, but there was. SO, be prepared.
As we get into the evening, that is when the threat of severe weather ramps up.
Wednesday: Winds will increase from the south-southeast and will blow at 15-25 MPH. These winds could occasionally gust to 30 MPH. Temperatures will warm in to the 60’s with showers and thunderstorms developing in the afternoon. Storms will end by midnight with gusty winds and isolated showers remaining possible. Wednesday night’s low temperatures will be in the 40’s.
Severe Weather Threat – The Storm Prediction Center has most of Central Illinois in an “Enhanced Risk” for severe storms Wednesday afternoon and evening.
There will be a significant amount of wind shear for thunderstorms to begin to rotate. Storms will move in from the west late in the afternoon and throughout the evening. The primary risk of severe weather will be damaging wind gusts of 60-80 mph, but a few isolated tornadoes will be possible given the strong wind shear. Large hail and flooding is not expected. The storms will move to the east-northeast at 40-50 MPH which will significantly lower the time people will have to react to any severe storm.

Thursday: Winds will be gust to 45 MPH with temperatures in the 50’s under partly to mostly cloudy skies. Overnight, temperatures will fall in to the 30’s under partially clearing skies.
