Traveling Is Great, Coming Home Is Better

The biggest reason you never want to over pack on a trip is you must leave room to bring back more than you take. If you over pack, and acquire additional items, cutbacks may be necessary.

This is a true story: Had to run up to Madison, Wisconsin for one night to attend a wedding. JUST ONE NIGHT.

Naturally you have to pack 5 kiddie outfits, a pack-n-play, rock-n-play, diaper bag, weekender bag, baby bottles, cooler with milk, stroller, play mat, snack bag, dog, suitcase, attache bag, suitcase, garment bag, etc. I’m probably forgetting something, and probably forgot to pack others.

It’s apparently state law when you go on a single overnight trip, you must pack like you’re moving out of your home forever.

The breakdown: With a fully loaded car on the way to Madison, we didn’t leave enough room to return with imperative items. Namely New Glarus Brewing goods that you can’t purchase outside of Wisconsin. So, a decision had to be made. We didn’t have room for everything, so we had to leave something behind.

If you find my son, please return to 120 Eaton Street, Peoria, IL 61604

I KID! We left the dog.

STILL JOKING!

I did absolutely use the stroller, including the basket underneath,  to wheel the cases of beer to the house though.

How much do you over pack when going on a trip?
