On March 22nd Justin Bieber crushed the dreams of many of his fans when he canceled all of the meet and greets for the rest of his ‘Purpose’ Tour. Justin cited the fact they “leave him too emotionally drained and depressed to preform” according to Hollywood Life.

Yesterday Drake followed suit by canceling all of the meet and greets for his Summer Sixteen Tour according to PEOPLE. A source told PEOPLE that they were canceled due to “scheduling issues” and fans that purchased various VIP packages costing up to $1000 are in the process of being refunded. Drake’s news follows the news of the death of The Voice star Christina Grimmie who was fatally shot by a deranged fan while she was signing autographs after a show in Orlando. Representatives for Drake declined to comment when asked by PEOPLE.

This does bring up an important issue of safety. Selena Gomez is known for going outside after her shows and taking a picture with all the fans then putting it on Instagram so that everyone can say they have a picture with her. However she posted this warning after a show in Canada.

It seems that the warning has  satisfied Selena as she has posted six more photos since has uploaded six new after concert photos since the photo was posted on May 17th.

We all want a chance to meet our favorite artists but their safety is important and so is the safety of all the fans. Maybe it’s best if artists cancel meet and greets until they can find a way to do it in the safest possible manner.
