Premier PR partnering with Tazwood Center for Wellness and the Yoga Projekt will host an open house event, Projekt PTSD: A Night to Build Peace of Mind, Tuesday, April 21 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Yoga Projekt studio located in Junction City.
The Greater Peoria community can show their support by participating in this event that aims to help those afflicted with post-traumatic stress disorder manage their illness in unique ways, while also educating the community to bring awareness of the issue.
At the event there will be many activities for people to participate in that can help alleviate stress and symptoms associated with PTSD, such as:
• Mini yoga classes instructed by The Yoga Projekt
• Reflexology sessions with Becky Cobb, from Balance and Harmony
• Fresh food and beverages sponsored by The Fresh Market and Costco
The keynote speaker, Debra Disney, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, will discuss several techniques that can be used for stress management, particularly focusing on Mind-Body Bridging and Emotional Freedom Techniques.
“Mind-Body Bridging is a method of befriending the brain,” Disney said. “It involves becoming aware of the body’s early warning signs of stress and then training the brain how to focus on staying in the present moment with peacefulness and contentment, even in the midst of difficult circumstances.”
The event will also feature guest appearance from East Peoria mayor, Dave Mingus and a raffle at the event with giveaways from the Peoria Riverman, Fresh Market, The Vitamin Shoppe, Peoria Chiefs and Costco.
